Valaciclovir is an effective drug also known as the Valtrex is used for the treatment of viral infections. The FDA approval for the manufacturing and sale of Valaciclovir in the markets was well approved much earlier by the Food and Drug administration. It was on 1st February 2007 that it was published that the HCl tablets of the same drug are also approved.

It was the Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd and the Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc that were involved in its manufacturing. The approval of the drug is well in United States (US) but not in United Kingdom (UK).The FDA approved the dose as the 1g for 10 days to be taken twice in 24 hours. In case of recurrent episodes 500mg for three days and twice in a day in case of adverse conditions.

One of the reasons for the approval for this drug was the Hemodialysis. After the body undergoes this, the levels of Valacyclovir are lost to the extend of one third the total drug. The generic form of the drug is still not available in the markets. According to the clinical trails it has proved to an effective drug. The present manufacturers of this pill are the Ranbaxy industries.

The sale of this drug is under the name of Valtrex. As this drug is known to have side effects it is only available through the prescription of qualified physician only. With its powerful effects in fighting the viral infections, the future of this drug seems quite bright.
